One of the things that makes Align 1:10 a truly special functional fitness/HIIT class is that it is really and truly mind/body.
The class starts with a centering meditation practice that invites participants to connect with their breath and where their body truly is at in the moment. Then, we go into a modified sun salutation flow. And then we go in deeeeep on one of the most challenging workouts out there. Expect TRX, bosus, kettlebells, dumbells and some other fun stuff. There is a rhyme and reason to it all: the meditation and yoga flow warm up really allow us access to push our bodies all the way, but without injury and in excellent form. This way we are working (super) hard, but also not crossing over the edge.
In studio we have the option of using heart rate monitors in this class so that we know when we need to bring in our mental game and push harder or sustain the hard. And also so we can actually measure our improvement. Everyone can do this workout – but if you haven’t exercised in a minute, we have some probably better and equally excellent starting places for you, since this is is our most athletic class.
We promise no matter your level of fitness you will definitely live to tell – and as they say what doesn’t break you makes you stronger. Heads up though – we only offer this class 3x/week because the real benefits are found in recovery and 1x or 2x a week is optimal for this kind of workout, meaning that you will make bigger steps by doing it all out but with less frequency.
